Mesothelioma
Cancer - An Exclusive Look
There are analysts who have mulled on different causes. There are
examples of this type of cancer with no known asbestos exposure.
Mesothelioma is not a lung cancer. Smoking is not known to cause
it. It is a cancer of the mesothelial cells.
Causes of Mesothelioma
Asbestos is the only established cause of Mesothelioma cancer. The
fibers of asbestos that are taken in, move through the lung and
get lodged in the pleura, the light, saran wrap-type tissue layer
that lines the lung. The pleura, produces a unique lubricating liquid
that enhances the ability of the fibers to move faster and further
into the chest during respiration. The irritating asbestos fibers
changes the cell structure permanently, which manipulates as the
Mesothelioma. This is known as pleural Mesothelioma. Less known
of the lot is peritoneal Mesothelioma, which is a cancer of the
membrane that embraces the lining of the belly.
Symptoms of Mesothelioma
Someone with Mesothelioma goes through chest pain commonly caused
by by the bild-up of fluids in the pleural space causing a flare-up
and shortness of breath. Since many doctors may not have expertise
in the domain of mesothelioma diseases, these symptoms are often
considered, at first, to be attributable to other medical possibilities.
A diagnostic assay of the pleural tissue or fluid may disclose the
malignant disease of the mesothelial cells which establishes the
right diagnosis. A account of the individual's on-the-job exposure
must be taken. As there is no "safe" level of exposure
to asbestos, minute exposures may be enough to cause Mesothelioma.
